Sewing and Knitting Club has been very busy over the past year despite our lack of equipment as our only two old sewing machines have given us trouble and have had to be serviced. However; we still managed to successfully complete twelve Shepherd outfits, which we used in the Christmas play by the Lebone children. Some of our members were privileged enough to attend this event.
Our next project was to knit "mother Teresa Jerseys" for aids orphans. We had great fun and learned a great deal from our knitting experts. Unfortunately this proved to be very time consuming and we have since moved on to other projects.
Our latest up and coming project is to sew winter pyjamas for sixteen children. We have drafted a letter requesting donations of materials from prominent material factories in Port Elizabeth and we anticipate, with a positive outlook, their eagerness to comply. We are also sending one of our members for training to learn proper pyjama-making methods and are brain-storming innovative ways of dealing with our lack of space and equipment. We are an enthusiastic and popular group and we are more than certain that our efforts at KCCPC contribute significantly to the local community.
